Hawthorn House
Hawthorn House is a children’s home associated with ËØÈËÉ«Ç鯬 Lower School Lincolnshire (Swinderby), and offers residential provision for up to six young people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, including behaviours of concern.

Welcome
Our aim is to improve the social and educational outcomes of the young people we support, and the home provides an integrated residential, education and care package to boys and girls aged eight to 19.
The large, six-bedroomed property is situated on our main site in the village of Swinderby, in Lincolnshire.
The home has a large garden next to the site playground area which has swings and a trampoline which the young people can access. There is a sensory room which enables young people to access and obtain sensory enrichment with 1:1 support.

Our approach
Hawthorn House provides a safe, caring and enjoyable environment where the young people’s views, wishes and feelings are listened to and respected. To achieve this, the home provides each young person a keyworker and access to an advocate alongside the dedicated team within Hawthorn House. We aspire to help young people to increase their emotional competence so that they can learn to overcome any difficulties that may be related to their autism and how they relate to the social world. This will help them to increase their abilities in relationship building and accessing services in the community as well as helping them to achieve academically. We celebrate individuality, be it diversity in ability, culture, age or ethnicity, whilst growing together and being ourselves, achieving meaningful outcomes and living meaningful lives.
Accommodation
Hawthorn House can accommodate six young people, each with their own personalised room and en-suite. Each young person will share a dining area, lounge, kitchen, utility room, snug and sensory suite. We have a spacious front and back garden, where our very own Hawthorn Tree proudly stands. Hawthorn house is perfectly situated adjacent to the school building, gym, swimming pool, sensory garden and playground.
Activities
Our activities are based on the young person’s preferences, to further promote their enjoyment and achievement during their time here at Hawthorn House. Each person residing at the home will choose their own activities each month and they will be given adequate support to access them. However, at Hawthorn House, we love a party. This will often include a playlist formulated to the taste of the young people and will always include something to get you dancing. We have our own disco lights and speakers to accommodate events in the communal onsite gym, and we like to invite others from other homes to attend to spread the joy.
Staff & Therapeutic Services
The home is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We pride ourselves on our high standards in terms of staffing, and we have a detailed and structured training and development programme in place. The services we provide are enhanced by experienced staff being allocated across all teams, and staff act as mentors and role models for the young people in our care.
Staff are specifically trained in recognising the types of challenges and needs that the young people have, which is vital in helping them reach their full potential.
Hawthorn House has a large Educational Support team. This team includes Psychology and Therapies and forms an integral part of our multidisciplinary team. The team works very closely together to advise, guide and support staff in meeting the very complex needs of our young people by developing and implementing individualised support and skill development plans. See more information on our Therapeutic Services here.
